A vintage of outstanding purity
Vine development and weather conditions Things got off to a good start in the Spring. The vines were one month ahead of schedule in April, but nobody expected the temperamental Summer that followed. The effects of the heat wave in the last two weeks of July were quickly negated by above-average rainfall and below-average temperatures in August. A strong North Wind at the end of August had a major influence on the crop. I began analysing sugar levels every day in order to assess the maturity of each plot and thus pick at just the right moment. The Pinot Noir grapes were picked slightly before the Chardonnay. The low yields meant that the harvest was over in just two days (30th and 31st August). The Chardonnay grapes were able to take advantage of the fine weather for a few more days before picking began on the 4th of September. All grapes were meticulously sorted twice: once in the vineyard, and again at the cellar. Thanks to much patience and a great deal of hard work, the 2007 vintage was born. Vintage characteristics − white wines After 18 months in barrel, the wines have aromas of fresh fruit and white flowers. The delicate, well-focused bouquet combines hints of citrus (lemon, orange and grapefruit) with subtle aromas of honeysuckle and hawthorn, as well as overtones of vanilla, aniseed, lime blossom and mint. Depending on the terroir, there is also a touch of pineapple, plum and apricot. The palate shows beautiful buttery flavours. The 2007 white wines are fantastically pure, with each wine clearly reflecting its terroir. Vintage characteristics − red wines The red wines are delicious and also very pure. The tannin is smooth and elegant, displaying attractive red fruit on both the nose and the palate. These wines are charming in every way! |
